Venue
Ilkley is situated in the beautiful Yorkshire dales, a National Park and well known tourist area. Below the town is the river Wharfe which gives its name to the dale – Wharfedale – whilst above and behind the town is Ilkley Moor. It is a bustling town with several shops, a variety of restaurants and the famous “Betty’s tearooms”.
Getting there
Ilkley is a 15-20 minute taxi journey from Leeds/Bradford airport. KLM, BMI, Jet2 as well as Ryanair fly into Leeds/Bradford airport from many places in Europe.
For those arriving by train into Leeds City station, from either Manchester or London, there is a half hourly 30minute train to Ilkley. From Manchester there is a frequent direct rail link from the airport to Leeds. Those arriving in London will also need to take the train as there are no longer any air links between London and Leeds.
The Craiglands Hotel is only a five minute walk from the town centre and also the bus and railway stations. Parking is available at the hotel
Accomodation
Please book directly with the hotel, quoting the EMHG May meeting. There are no rooms on hold, so please book early as there is little alternative hotel accommodation in Ilkley. The Ilkley tourist board can be contacted on www.visitilkley.com or e-mail ilkley.vic-at-bradford.gov.uk. The area is certainly a place were you may want to stay longer for a holiday.
