Welcome to
Basel, Switzerland

44th annual meeting of the EMHG

Welcome to Basel, Switzerland

Welcome to Basel, Switzerland, for the 44th Annual Meeting of the European Malignant Hyperthermia Group.

We are delighted to welcome all attendants to Basel for three inspiring days of scientific exchange, collegial discussion, and shared commitment to advancing knowledge in malignant hyperthermia. It is a pleasure to host you in our city and to gather at the Odelya Conference Centre, conveniently located within walking distance of both the city center and the University Hospital Basel.

The meeting will begin with a welcome reception on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, bringing together participants and accompanying persons in an informal and friendly setting. The scientific program will open on Thursday morning with welcome and introduction, followed by guest lectures, scientific sessions, and opportunities for exchange during coffee and lunch breaks. The day will conclude with the gala dinner on Thursday evening, a highlight of the meeting and a chance to continue conversations in a more festive atmosphere.

On Friday, the program will continue with additional guest lectures, scientific sessions, the Annual General Meeting of the EMHG, and the award of prizes before the meeting closes in the late afternoon. An optional dinner will be held in the evening for those who registered for that.

We look forward to 32 abstracts and 3 guest lectures with 4 guest speakers. We hope the meeting will be both academically rewarding and personally enjoyable, and we warmly invite you to make the most of your time in Basel.

Some additional notes:

Celluar Phone Data

Please be aware that most data-packages for cellular data in Europa do not include Switzerland. So make sure you either have included data, or you buy an esim for Switzerland (or switch off your data....)

Cash

Most shops accept contactless payment, which may be easiest for you. Many do also accept Euros with a terrible exchange rate ;-)

Public transport

For those staying in a hotel, you get a 'Basel Card', which allows for free public transport. Please contact your hotel, you might be entitled to already travel from the train station / airport to the hotel with the confirmation of your booking.

Gala dinner

The gala dinner on Thursday evening will be at the Zoo of Basel. Transfer from the meeting facility to the Zoo will be by foot with a short ride with public transport (tram). Transport to and from the dinner will be individually (although we will go there as a group, there is no dedicated bus or tram for us).
